Honey Hearth Loaf

A soft, golden everyday loaf sweetened with our own honey.

Ingredients

  • For the loaf
  • 500 g strong white bread flour
  • 10 g fine sea salt
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 350 ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp honey from the hive

Method

  1. Whisk flour, salt and yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Stir the honey into the warm water, then pour into the flour.
  3. Mix to a shaggy dough, then knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and prove until doubled, about 1 hour in a warm kitchen.
  5. Shape, prove 40 minutes, then bake at 230°C for 30–35 minutes.
  6. Cool on a rack before slicing — if you can wait that long.

Notes

No honey on hand? Maple syrup works beautifully too.
